UCLG International Award – Mexico City – Culture 21

United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), together with Mexico City, are launching the 7th edition of the UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21 International Award.

This is an excellent opportunity for Educating Cities to submit their applications for the award and thus highlight their leadership in promoting cultural rights, as well as the diversity and excellence of the policies and initiatives of AICE member cities.

The award will recognise the city whose policy, programme, or project has significantly contributed to promoting the exercise of cultural rights within the framework of local sustainable development. Applications must focus on an innovative policy, programme, or project that has been in place for at least two years; promoted directly by the local or regional government, or by local cultural actors (civil society, associations, cultural institutions or organisations, universities, activists, etc.).

Each city or local or regional government may submit only one application.

The deadline for submitting applications is 12 March 2026.

The application form can be found here.

For further details, please consult the website and the full guidelines of the 7th edition of the UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21 International Award.
