Invitation to submit experiences of Training and Mentorship for generational turnover in local governments
Send your best practice in training and supporting staff in local councils!
The construction of the Educating City is a shared and transversal project, so the transmission of knowledge and methodologies to new generations of public workers is essential to consolidate the advances made and to find solutions to the challenges ahead, through education and training.
In our local councils, there is an annual natural turnover of municipal staff. The generation born in the 1960s represents a significant portion of the workforce, and their departure may create gaps in the municipal structure. Many of these individuals have decades of experience in public administration, so this turnover process cannot be improvised. Without proper knowledge transfer, these retirements may affect both institutional stability and the continuity of certain services to the public. For this reason, it is necessary to plan and support this generational turnover to avoid knowledge loss and ensure that the values and vision of the organization are passed on.
In some of your cities, you have implemented training and mentorship programs or support for young collaborators, others carry out processes of recognizing acquired experience to certify the qualifications of the staff, and/or promote a culture of continuous learning.
If this is the case in your city, we invite you to share with us these processes, innovative methodologies, and learnings by submitting your experience to the Bank of Experiences BIDCE. The initiatives will be reviewed by an editorial committee, and selected ones will be published in the Bank.
Submit your experience HERE.
The deadline for submission is April 30.
