International Day of the Educating City 2025
Share your city’s programme!
On 30 November, we will once again celebrate the International Day of the Educating City, under the slogan: “Children’s participation in the Educating City”
This edition highlights the active role of children as an essential part of citizenship. Children have the right to be heard and to take part in decisions that affect their environment. In an Educating City, children are not just recipients of services — they are key players in building a fairer, more inclusive, and more caring community.
Many municipalities have already implemented educational initiatives and child participation mechanisms, such as children’s councils, children’s parliaments, or participatory budgeting, promoted by schools, community organisations or local governments.
Make child participation visible!
We encourage all cities to use this celebration to:
- Promote existing spaces for participation.
- Create new opportunities for children to have a voice in community life.
Meaningful child participation improves the quality of life in our cities.
