The proposal invites member cities to offer spaces such as schoolyards, squares, streets, or parks where children can play freely, promoting their right to play and highlighting its educational, social, and emotional value.

In 2023, 50 Portuguese cities participated, involving 160,000 children. This year, 208,104 children from 56 cities in 5 countries are already expected to take part:

• Brazil: Araraquara, Fagundes Varela, Ipecaetá, Passo Fundo, São Paulo.

• Spain: Almoradí, Alovera, Barcelona, Ibi, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Lleida, Ondara, Roquetas de Mar, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Zaragoza.

• France: Lattes.

• Puerto Rico: Caguas.

• Portugal: Alenquer; Alfândega da Fé; Barreiro; Coimbra; Covilhã; Esposende; Estremoz; Funchal; Fundão; Gondomar; Guimarães; Lisbon; Loures; Lousada; Maia; Marco de Canaveses; Matosinhos; Mealhada; Miranda do Corvo; Odivelas; Oeiras; Paços de Ferreira; Pampilhosa da Serra; Peniche; Pinhal Novo; Ponta Delgada; Porto; Póvoa de Lanhoso; Soure; Tábua; Torres Novas; Valongo; Vila do Bispo; Vila do Conde; Vila Franca de Xira; Vila Verde; Vizela.

At the latest IAEC assembly, Torres Vedras extended an invitation to all Educating Cities to join this celebration, once again coordinating the event. As last year, the city will produce a video with images from each participating city, including its name.
