
Over 200,000 children to celebrate International Play Day
On June 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Hour of Play will take place — an initiative led by the city of Torres Vedras to mark International Play Day.
The proposal invites member cities to offer spaces such as schoolyards, squares, streets, or parks where children can play freely, promoting their right to play and highlighting its educational, social, and emotional value.
In 2023, 50 Portuguese cities participated, involving 160,000 children. This year, 208,104 children from 56 cities in 5 countries are already expected to take part:

Brazil: Araraquara, Fagundes Varela, Ipecaetá, Passo Fundo, São Paulo.

Spain: Almoradí, Alovera, Barcelona, Ibi, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Lleida, Ondara, Roquetas de Mar, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Zaragoza.

At the latest IAEC assembly, Torres Vedras extended an invitation to all Educating Cities to join this celebration, once again coordinating the event. As last year, the city will produce a video with images from each participating city, including its name.
Cities that have not yet registered can do so until June 10 via the official link. Images for the joint video should also be submitted via the same link.
