The 9^th International Congress of Educating Cities under the title “People’s Place in the City” took place in Lyon in September 2006.

More than 800 participants from over 40 countries attended to the workshops and plenary sessions of a congress structured around 4 thematic axis:

• Formal and non-formal lifelong education.
• Human relations in the city: living together, democracy and equality.
• Urban spaces and social times.
• Cooperation between cities.
