© Carlos Reis (Flickr)   City of the Portuguese Atlantic Coast placed at south-western region of Alentejo. The city is, with 1.720,60 km², the largest city of the country. A significant amount of the surface of the city is included in the Natural Park of the South-west of Alentejo and Coast. As regards its historic heritage, it is worth mentioning the Fort of Milfontes, built in the 16^th Century in order to protect the port of Odemira from the Northern African pirate’s incursions.
