Oaxaca de Juárez

© Rulo Luna Oaxaca de Juárez, with more than 250,000 inhabitants and capital of the state of Oaxaca, is a city with a strong tourist vocation. Gastronomy is one of the qualities of Oaxaca, which coexists with the tradition and cultural diversity of the ethnic groups that inhabit the city. It breathes a creative and artistic atmosphere that places the city as a reference in Mexico. Formerly known as Antequera, its monumental wealth is remarkable despite the landslides and damage caused by earthquakes, which left little of the 16th century architecture; and although most of the buildings, both civil and religious, have had to be rebuilt two or three times, it is precisely this seismic nature of the terrain that has defined the architecture of the place, which is wide and low, robust, with thick walls. Not surprisingly, the city has been declared a World Heritage Site.
