Capital of the Guanajuato state, it is located in the center-west of Mexico. It is a university city with an intense cultural life. Guanajuato is made up by the parishes of Guanajuato, Marfil, Santa Teresa, Yerbabuena, Puentecillas, San José de Cervera or Paso de Perules, among others. The Historic Town of Guanajuato and Adjacent Mines was declared World Heritage Site in 1988.
