In the municipality, there is a historic center, residential neighborhoods and industrial zones. 83% of the surface of the city (44,7km²) is occupied by forests and crops. A quite important part of the forests are protected within the Natural Park of  Sant Llorenç del Munt and Serra de l'Obac.
