City placed at the centre of the Republic of Korea. Hoengseong has a continental climate as the result of its situation in the hilly inland of the province of Gangwon. Within its vast territory (997.82 km²) there is an urban centre, densely populated and a rural zone. Its economic activity is mainly focused on the primary sector, Hoengseong is renowned for its cow meat (hanu) and for its production of deodeok, a root similar to Ginseng, which is commonly used in salads.
