Setúbal

© Diego Delso (Wikimedia commons) City, capital of the district of the same name, located 32km South of the Portuguese Capital, Lisbon. Setubal is a trade, industrial and port hub that has lived an important population growth in the last decades. Nowadays, the city has more than 113,000 inhabitants. Phoenicians and Romans settled down in the northern bank of the River Sado Estuary where the city is located now. As a consequence, the city has an important cultural heritage. A significant amount of the municipality surface is part of the Natural Parks of the Arrábida and of the Estuary of Sado.
