Years ago the economy of the city was based mainly on farming and consequently the industry of the preserved food. Nowadays, the economy of Molina de Segura has become highly diversified although the industry of preserved food is still significant in the locality as it shows the fact that the Spanish Technological Centre for Preserved Food is at the city.
