Murcia

© Sergio Rozas (Flickr) Capital of the region of the same name located at the South-East of Spain the valley of the Segura river. Murcia has a wide surface of 885km2 distributed among the urban centre and its 54 rural districts. Murcia is renowned as the Europe’s orchard as a consequence of the amount of fruits, green vegetables and flowers that are produced and exported. It is also a university city and a hub of services –specifically touristic. In 2009, UNESCO declared Human Intangible Heritage the Council of Wise Men of the plain of Murcia as an example of a Mediterranean irrigation court.
