6th National Congress of the Portuguese Network

More than 500 representatives of 37 cities participated at the 6th edition of the National Congress of the Portuguese Network which took place in Almada last November 11-13. The Congress focused its attention on the theme "Participated Cities, Adapted/able cities".

The Mayor of Almada, Mr Joaquim Judas, presided over the Opening Ceremony which had as well speeches by the Deputy Mayor on Education, Culture and Sports of Almada, Mr António Matos, and the IAEC General Secretary, Ms Marina Canals.

During the 3 days of work there were some outstanding moments such as the Rountable of Local Authorities, the Keynote Speeches, the presentation of experiences, the adoption of a Final Declaration and study visits to several Almada’s good practices.

The Roundtable of Local Authorities had the participation of the Mayors of Almada, Évora, Mr Carlos Pinto Sá; Loulé, Mr Vitor Aleixo; the Deputy Mayor of Education and Culture of Braga; and the General Director of Educative Programs of Rosario Ms Carolina Balparda.

The Keynote lectures were presented by Professor Joan Manuel del Pozo, which gave a presentation on the theme “Educating City, Adapted/able, Inclusive, Participated: Democratic”; by the Professor Jaqueline Moll, which gave a lecture on “Educative Curricula at the city”; by the Professor Jorge Gonçalves, which talked about the “Critical Adaption of the city”; and the Professor Filipa Ramalhete, which gave a lecture on the theme “Critical Participation of the City”.

Furthermore, there were four workshops of presentations of experiences during which 58 good practices were presented as well as 4 study visits to several Almada’s good practices.

At the Closing Ceremony, was adopted the Final Declaration of the 6th National Congress that you could download here below in Portuguese.
