Valongo

© Valongo City Council City form the east of the Metropolitan Area of Porto, north region of Portugal. It occupies a surface of 75,7 km2 surrounded by the Baltar and Valongo mountain chains, between the Ferreira and Leça rivers. Although the city was populated before the Romans, the city’s expansion took place in the 18th century, mainly because of the construction of new transport infrastructures and to it traditional products industry, specially their famous artisan cookies, the regueifas. Among its architectonic patrimony stand out the Christ’s Cross of Senhor do Padrão and the medieval bridge of São Lazaro.
