It occupies a plain surface of 9.64 km² located at the center of the Alicante Huerta (Literally Orchard). In the past, the economy of the city was based on agriculture. Nowadays, it economy is based on services and trade. Furthermore, the city has a university Hospital, which concentrate the Health University training.
