© Koshelyev (Wikimedia commons) Capital of the Island of São Miguel and of the Açores, a Portuguese archipelago located on the middle of the Atlantic Sea. It occupies a vast surface of 232,99km² from the centre of the island to the west coast. Ponta Delgada has a relevant natural environment with spaces such as the Lake of the seven cities, placed on the crater of an inactive volcano. As regards its architectonic heritage, it is worth mentioning the doors of the City as well as the traditional buildings of the city with white walls decorated with volcano rocks and iron bannisters. The city hosts the Central University of Açores and the International Airport of the island.
