Matosinhos has various different zones: a urban, which concentrates the trade and the industry, the Atlantic Ocean Coast, a crowded place during the holydays, and the Port of Leixões, the second sea port of the Metropolitan area of Porto. As regards its architectonic heritage, we must cite the monuments of Álvaro Siza, a contemporary architect born in the city.
