In the second half of the 21^st century and the first decade of 20^th, oldest migrants of the city, known as brasileiros de torna-viagem (come and go Brazilians) built beautiful palaces and created the first industries of the city. Nowadays the economic activity is based on  agriculture, textile industry, trade and construction.
