The 14th IAEC Congress ends

Representatives of 133 cities of 23 countries of 4 continents have participated at the 14th IAEC Congress “Living together in our cities” which has taken place in Rosario (Argentina) last 1-4 June. Consult the final Declaration here.

The closing day of the 14th IAEC Congress began with a dialogue between the Minister of Education of the Argentinean Province of Santa Fe, Mrs. Chiqui González, and the Secretary of Education of the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais, Ms. Macaé Maria Evaristo Dos Santos, in which they focused on the pedagogy of public spaces.

Subsequently, the Director of Education Espoo, Ms. Kaisu Toivonen, the Deputy Mayor of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Mr. Jaume Graells, and the Mayor of Saha-gu, Mr. Kyung-hoon Lee, presented the awarded experiences of the Educating Cities’ Award on good practices of living together in our cities. Afterwards, tehy received the diploma of the Award from the mayor of Rosario, Ms. Monica Fein and the IAEC Deputy President and Commissioner for Education and Universities of Barcelona, Mr. Miquel Angel Essomba.

Mayors of Porto Alegre, José Fortunati Mr; Settimo Torinese, Mr. Fabrizio Pupo; Rosario, Ms. Monica Fein.; Saha-gu, Mr. Kyung-Hoon Lee; as well as the Deputy Mayor of Ishoj, Mr Seyit Ahmet Özkan, and Councilman Rennes, Mr. Tristan Lahais, then shared experiences on education and creativity in their respective cities in the Round Table of local authorities.

Finally, the 14th Congress concluded with a ceremony that began with a message from the Executive Director of UN-Habitat, Mr. Joan Clos, followed by the reading of the Final Declaration of the 14th Congress and the passage of the baton to the host city of the 15th Congress, Cascais (Portugal).
